Sasairobeni was a popular makeup style in the late Edo period. Said to have originated from the vanity of courtesans, this technique involved layering red pigment multiple times to create a distinctive greenish hue, hence its name. Frequently depicted in shunga, it symbolizes the vibrant fashion and culture of the time.
